Over the course of 2 hours on a sunny Saturday in North Perth, visitors and volunteers popped in and out of The Maker Movement café and workshop.
Of 35 broken items that were looked at, 23 were made usable again.
But it wasn’t just bikes, toys and lamps that got a vitality boost.
One visitor commented that they liked “the attitude of helpfulness of ALL the people helping and the like-minded customers”. Another said the Repair Café team was “friendly with a fantastic vibe”.
Event organiser Angie says, “For me, the importance of the event isn’t really captured in the number of items repaired. We created a strong springboard that we can use to further promote the Repair Café, get people thinking and sharing ideas and, most significantly, change how they and their families think about their possessions.”
The next Repair Café event will run again on 16 December, this time at the more spacious Academy Cafe in Mount Hawthorn. Register your interest and find out more here.
