ASMR WA & Scitech present Science in the Cinema
Proudly presented by the Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR) and Scitech, this year’s Science in the Cinema will be screening sci-fi film, Arrival (M).
When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) – is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers. To find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life – and quite possibly humanity.
We will kick off the evening by watching the first half of the movie followed by a break for a panel discussion about the scientific topics explored in the film. We will then close out the night with some pizza before watching the second half of the film.
Join expert panellists for a lively discussion on the science from the film:
- Dr David Lewis (Psychology, Murdoch University)
- Dr Sender Dovchin (School of Education, Curtin University)
- Ben Ainslie and Daniel Midgley (Presenters on RTRFM’s Talk the Talk podcast)
- Dr Frances Marcus Lewis (Professor, University of Washington, Affiliate Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center)
Tickets are $6.00 (plus 50c booking fee), which includes pizza.
