Hot and High Airport Operations
Take off in hot temperatures and/or at high altitude, tests all pilots.
Both situations produce thinner, i.e. less dense air, which inevitably reduces the lift of the wings and the thrust of the engines. You cannot avoid using more runway and a higher take-off speed for a safe departure.
Not getting the take-off numbers correct can definitely spoil your day!!
